Fraudulent Phone Calls

Have you received a phone call from your computer anti-virus company, claiming that you are owed a refund because the company is going out of business? Some are being told that the incorrect amount of refund money was accidentally transferred into their bank account, and they are requested to purchase a gift card for the amount of the difference to return to the company.

A reputable company would never request that you send money back to them in this fashion. These requests from the “anti-virus company” are not legitimate and should be reported to the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.IC3.gov.

If you or someone you know has fallen victim to this scam, please change your Online Banking password immediately and call your financial institutions to report the scam.
