Stay informed but avoid obsessing
While it is important to stay informed about what’s happening in our community, make sure you’re following trustworthy sources. Don’t get trapped in a social media rabbit hole of misinformation and opinions. Look into following the CDC and World Health Organization, as well as your local public health authorities. Try not to obsessively search for updates as to avoid feeding into fear and anxiety.
While practicing physical distancing during the stay at home order, make sure you are still keeping in contact with friends and family. You can use apps like Facetime, Skype, Zoom, or Houseparty to continue spending time with your loved ones. This will prevent you – and them – from feeling isolated from their worlds.
Clean and organize your space
With all of the time we are spending at home, it’s helpful to make sure that you keep your environment clean and organized to avoid feeling depressed or overwhelmed. This will also keep you productive and feeling good!
Stay in routine
This will help you to maintain structure in your life. Don’t fall into lazy habits while staying home. Discipline yourself to wake up and go to bed at certain times, and practice personal hygiene. Another thing to incorporate into your daily routine that will help you to feel calm is exercise!
It will make you feel good to be able to help others during this time. Especially for those who may be feeling as if they are trapped in a helpless situation. There are many ways you can get involved in helping during this time, and you can find our list here: Looking for Ways to Help During the Covid-19 Pandemic?
