Michigan is the perfect place to see the best of all four seasons. This summer, plan a road trip to see all of the wonderful places the state has to offer! We’ve made a list of some great places you can stop at along the way:

Detroit: Michigan’s metropolis. Spend an afternoon relaxing on Belle Isle, see the block-wide outdoor art in The Heidelberg Project, or learn about the city’s legacy by choosing from many different museums – The Detroit Institute of Arts, Greenfield Village, Michigan Science Center, or Motown Museum.

At Frankenmuth, go swimming at Zhender’s Splash Village indoor waterpark, or celebrate Christmas in July at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland.

Enjoy wine tasting in Traverse City, hiking around beautiful northern Michigan, or visit the Sleeping Bear Dunes, where you can rent a buggy or race down the giant sand hills on foot.

Hunt for Michigan’s state stone on the beach in Petoskey.

Drive to Mackinaw City, a quick ferry ride from Mackinac Island, where you can bike around the island, go for a ride in a horse drawn carriage, or tour the gorgeous and historical Grand Hotel.

Go kayaking and enjoy the views at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, hang out with bear cubs at Oswald’s Bear Ranch, or see the largest waterfall in Michigan, Tahquamenon Falls.

Take a tour of Copper Harbor Lighthouse (the oldest remaining lighthouse structure on Lake Superior, built in 1848). Visit the restored 1844 military outpost that now functions as a state park, Fort Wilkins, or go underground at the Quincy Copper Mine.
